Art On Show Entries 2022

Last night I had two works on display at the local Art On Show Awards held every year in Mackay through the City Council. It was a great night and congratulations to all the winners. I chatted to many past students and fellow artists and we had a laugh about needing air-conditioning in winter in the tropics. The two art

works were created in the last three months. 'Dinner Party at Stanley's' was inspired by a family outing at Howard-Smith Wharf in Brisbane. The second artwork is a deeply personal ink and acrylic drawing exploring relationships and the masks we wear. Working with water colour paper and drawing inks to create the marks in this work was a meditative process without thought for the final outcome in mind.

The story and ideas revealed themselves slowly and reflect current experiences or emotions. The 'Chameleon' explores the hidden sides of people and their inner world. What we see on the outside can be a disguise to the fragile self. I added small areas of Golden acrylic paint randomly and let the marks dictate where the faces would be depicted.
